GW Cheat Programs?
Today quite a few people in the Comp. Arenas were talking about people who use cheat programs called 'shadowing' or something where you can't take damage. People are saying they finally were able to hit PvP Arenas now, which sucks if it's true. Anyone think it is?

no alot of people were talking about it today, probably like 10 districts of people were talking about it. It is possible, there are cheats and hacks out there, how do you think people get money to sell? they obviously use some hack cuz I can't see someone farming day and night as their daily job, including that now farming has been nerfed for some dumb reason

yeah, i've been called a cheater in 4vs4 arena...
here's my trick : droknar armor, max lvl for arena you are in, absorb rune, knight armor piece, physical resitance (mesmer spell).
so that gives me 140 AL, -5 damage from absorb.
makes me get ALOT of -0 damage, and alot of complains.
if you check how the damage and armor works in GW, you will easily understand how to get near 0 damage. 140AL makes you receive something close to 25% damage, if i remember correctly. so the guy needs to hit me for more than 20 damage in order to deal 1 point of damage. if he hits over 20 damage, i start taking damage slowly. lets say i receive a critical hit for 50, i will only receive 7 damage.
i enjoy it pretty much, i missed my counter-strike days where i would get banned for "hacking" twice a day.

if you check how the damage and armor works in GW, you will easily understand how to get near 0 damage. 140AL makes you receive 37% damage, if i remember correctly. so the guy needs to hit me for more than 20 damage in order to deal 1 point of damage. if he hits over 20 damage, i start taking damage slowly. lets say i receive a critical hit for 50, i will only receive 7 damage.

Thats funny... because I have full knights, superior absorb, I can put on kinetic aura and armor of earth, and I STILL take damage. Not a lot of melee damage, but its certainly not so little that people would ever think I'm "cheating"... unless you're taking Droks into Ascalon Arena (which would make you a total cheesedick) I don't see how its possible that anyone would go "OMFG CHEATER" or anything of the sort... a couple of spikers going at you, sayonara pal, armor or no armor.
To the OP: I'm not sure whether or not these programs work, I've never had the urge to cheat so I'll never know first-hand... but if these programs are a reality, they won't be around for long. The first time a team comes across some omnipotent guy taking no damage, they'll document the whole thing and send it to an ANet rep before you can say "LAWL NOOBZ". They'll ban him, fix whatever exploit allows this program to work, and it will be business as usual.
I hate ANet for messing with PvE, but I have to say they know their bread is buttered on the PvP side and they keep it about as balanced as its possible to be. Cheaters might get a little fame or faction for a day or two, but they'll probably get banned, cry, and buy another copy of the game for another $50 bucks... so its a win/win situation all around.

I get called a cheater all the time on my prot monk :P Just because 3 wars can't take me down, doesn't mean I hack. I just know what I'm doing and they don't know what they're doing. Simple. Brush it off, the second it's proven is the second it'll be nullified by ANet.
And.. Whosaidwhatnow, it's because full knight armor isnt any good. having reduce damage on one piece covers your whole body, and doesn't stack with other knight items, only another rune. The only damage reduction that will stack is a shield, 1 rune, and 1 knight piece.
So think of how likely each piece is of getting hit, arms and legs take the least number of hits. Arms however apparently have an increased chance in getting hit by magic. So wear Knight boots only, and the rest something like plate mail maybe. That's what I do. And maybe have dragon gloves or something that reduces magic better.
Remember: Armor = defence vs. EVERYTHING. Armor vs. physical is ONLY physical. so a body armor with 60 defence and 10 defence against physical will have more magic defence than an armor with 50 def and 25 vs physical. This is just an example, there are no armors with exactly those stats, but just look around and you'll get it.
ps. 40 armor = half damage.
meaning skills like "Watch Yourself!" Gives you 20 def, cutting your damage by a quarter.
PlateMail suit +
Knight boots +
-dmg shield +
absorb rune +
watch yourself +
Physical Resistance (mes skill, +40 armor) =
A lottt of def.. added together it should look like this:
Total Dmg = Monsters damage (Cut in half almost 4 times) - 7 damage.
I know it doesn't look very well put together but I wanted to make it easy to understand.

yeah, my post was really only about physical damage.
i get hit pretty hard by ele damage, mainly if i was dumb enough to start Physical Resistance when the target of an ele.
and no, i don't do ascalon arena...i go to Yak's one...and yes, i bring drok armor there...and i since i fight against 90% + of foes that have drok armor, i don't feel too bad about it.
but even in yak's arena, 140 AL vs physical gotta be annoying to rangers and warriors trying to 1vs1 me (not that I care about their game, i go about with my targets anyway since they deal very little damage). we're talking about receiving less than 25% the damage he can get, - 5 absorb.
every time you get into online gaming, you are bound to get in noob's way that call anything they don't understand a cheat. just learn how the game is built.

you only need those runes for pvp. For pve you don't need them at all.
Only people who blow their money needlessly complain they have none.

Even if it is true, all that people need to do is make sure that if they see someone being beaten on by 3 or 4 others in PvP and no health decreasing for more than 10/20 seconds, take screenshots and report it. Anet will watch their account for any more suspicious fights and sort it out.

Agree about the money-blowers. Disagree about needing those runes. You don't "need" them in PvP either, they just give you a minute advantage that might make a difference if you were fighting 1v1 against an identical character. Since the game is team-based, that extra 9 hp or -1 dmg you get from a superior rune really doesn't make a substantial difference.

I've been in CA and TA for quite a while, and I have yet to come across these "Sadowers". Like everyone else said, probably just had some rediculously high AL.

Or Mist Form. 2 seconds to cast, but once it's on, it lasts for up to 25 out of 30 seconds, and there's no special indication that it's on.
Your attacks aren't "blocked", "dodged", or "evaded", they just don't damage.
